A trip to the dog park is usually canines’ idea of nirvana. They can play with other dogs, go about without a leash, and go home happy. Vada and Layla, two huskies, had a drastically different experience at the dog park. Mona Ahmed, the manager of the Woodward Dog Park in Fresno, California, got a call in the first few days of October. Two abandoned huskies had been discovered at the dog park by a lady.
At first, Mona didn’t get alarmed; after all, the dogs had to belong to someone, and that person would soon return. But afterwards, the woman claimed to have discovered a package containing dog food, bowls, and toys. A depressing message was also contained in the package.
“Do you know how long these huskies have been here? I started questioning folks. These huskies have been here since five, somebody informed me. But now the time was eight. Therefore, these huskies have been playing in the dog park for three hours.”
Some important information was provided by a visitor.
“Yes, I saw [a woman] leave the husky dogs, someone said. She promised to get in the car and come straight back, she said. Therefore, no one really noticed that she had actually vanished.”
She was relieved that someone had informed her, even though she felt bad for Vada and Layla. The dogs may have been hurt if they had been left in the park over night.
“They could have scaled the barrier and been run over by a vehicle. The dog park is directly across from a very busy road. Although the speed limit is 50, many drivers exceed it.”
At the Woodward Dog Park, unfortunately, people have abandoned pets before. Mona, who has been in charge of the dog park for ten years, claims that 13 additional dogs have been left behind and that it is her obligation to rescue them and rehome them.
“This infuriates me. No dog should be given in this manner. All they had to do was request assistance.
Although it’s usually desirable to keep owners and dogs together, there are alternatives available for those who are unable to do so.
In her words:
“The most crucial thing for pet owners to understand is that there are numerous services available to them; all they need to do is get in touch with their local animal shelter. You may meet with your local shelter to discuss your situation in greater detail, and they can then direct you toward the many options that are available to you.
