Family Finds Their Missing Dog Stuck In A Drain A Week Later

After seven days, a Cincinnati family discovered their lost dog. Edgar is a four-year-old black retriever mix that enjoys getting out of the home and running around. When there is a storm, however, the dog becomes quite scared and seeks shelter to defend himself from the loud noises.

Edgar’s father, Sean Ryan, told Today:

“They are decent lads who enjoy sneaking about. They become loose and return home on their own in a few of nights.”

Unfortunately, when a severe storm approached the city, Edgar chose to go without leaving any evidence of his whereabouts. Storms continued to rage throughout the week, causing the family to assume that his beloved dog had perished.

Oscar, the second dog in the home, was upset since his sibling and best buddy had passed away. Seven days had gone since Edgar had vanished, and there was still no evidence of his likely whereabouts.

The wailing came from a storm drain, and the person making the urgent pleas for aid was her lovely lost puppy.

Sean remarked:

“His eyes were the only thing I could see. He became agitated. He was glad to see me, but he needed to get it out of his system.”

The dog was relieved to be found, but he was afraid of being stuck in the pipe and really wanted to get out. Sean instantly dialed the city fire department, and they were on the site to save Edgar within minutes.

The crew devised a strategy, excavated the area, and constructed a hole for Edgar to crawl out of the pipe. Edgar was hungry, but he was able to drink from the water since he had been in it, despite the fact that he had multiple wounds on his body.

After taking him to the vet, the tests confirmed that Edgar was in good condition and that all they needed to do was follow medical therapy. His wounds were treated by the vet, who gave him intravenous fluids, antibiotics, and shaved various portions of his skin to help his wounds heal.

Edgar appeared to be a strong and resolute dog, so he returned to normal within a few days, as if nothing had happened to him.

Sean continued, ”

“He bounced back quickly. He’s already returned to the scene!”

Edgar’s family feels bad about what occurred, so they’ve decided to get GPS trackers for their two dogs. Both canines will be able to run about freely without fear of becoming lost or trapped.

It’s unclear how Edgar wound himself in the pipe, but it’s thought he went in looking for cover from the thunder and then became trapped.

Sean suggested:

“I can’t believe I was that close to quitting. Every day, we walked that loop… I don’t know how many times I passed it. That is the lesson I hope people take away from this. Never make assumptions and never give up.”
