Dog Tied Up Under Bathroom Sink For Weeks Is Finally Getting The Love She Deserves

The property manager heard faint cries emanating from the vacant flat after a family was evicted. When the manager went in to look into it, he discovered a little puppy tied up beneath the bathroom sink, wounded and in serious need of assistance.

The family had opted to leave Autumn, the dog, chained beneath the sink with nothing except a bowl of Raisin Bran, instead of bringing her with them. The unfortunate dog had been left alone for a week before being discovered, and she was in excruciating pain due to a horrible neck injury caused by being tied up. The property manager realized the small puppy needed some really committed individuals to help her, so she put an appeal on Facebook for someone to take her in. Fortunately, Kate’s Rescue for Animals heard about her and decided to take her in right away.

After driving out to fetch her, a rescue volunteer took Autumn directly to Monte Vista Small Animal Hospital, where the staff was eagerly awaiting her arrival. They gently took her collar off, and after evaluating her injuries, they realized that in order to preserve her life, they would need to operate on the open incision on her neck.

Even though Autumn’s owners had only left her alone for a week, the vet estimated that she had been chained for considerably longer than that, based on her injuries.

Autumn was underweight and dehydrated when she initially arrived at the vet, and in addition to her injuries, she was very silent. Despite all that had happened to her, she was the kindest little puppy from the start, wanting nothing more than to be hugged by all of her new friends.

“Because she’s been mistreated for so long, she’s really lovely and likes to be handled,” Kim Dunn, a volunteer with Kate’s Rescue for Animals, told The Dodo.

Little Autumn miraculously survived the operation and appeared to be doing much better just hours later, much to the delight of the caregivers. Autumn did get a fever a few days later, but it was swiftly cleared, and she is currently resting and healing with her foster mother Christine Schamber.

Autumn can’t be around other dogs now since she’s still recuperating, but she’s loving every minute of her foster home, and her family can’t wait to meet all of her foster siblings soon. Autumn’s brilliant personality belies how much she’s gone through, and she’ll undoubtedly be the best dog for one very happy family once she’s finally ready to find her permanent home.
