Koko The Gorilla Opens Box Of Kittens For Her Birthday

Everyone knows Koko the gorilla for her intelligence, gentle nature and her love of kittens. For her 44th birthday, Koko got a dream gift, a visit from a whole litter of kittens! She picked them gently up and got to hug and hold them. She even asked for one to be put on top of her head.

At the end of the play date, she was even happier. “Koko has adopted these two kittens into her family, and it has energized her world.” Koko fell in love with one, and the other fell in love with her. They add, “Not only have Koko’s maternal and play instincts kicked in, but she is signing more to her caregivers.”

The Gorilla Foundation hopes that people seeing Koko with her kittens will help remind people that these gentle apes need our protection and support.
