Squirrel Mom Approaches Woman And Leads Her To Helpless Baby

Tia Powell was strolling down a route in a park near her Virginia home when she noticed something – a squirrel standing just off the trail.

Powell seemed unconcerned and proceeded on her way. The squirrel, on the other hand, had different ideas.

Powell told The Dodo, “She went up to me and grabbed my sweatpants.” “I was taken aback and dumbfounded.”

Powell, alarmed by the squirrel’s bravado, tried to shoo her away at first, but the small creature appeared adamant about getting her to stop.

Powell stated, “She came straight back.” “Something urged me to wait and see what would happen, so I did.”

And it’s for the best that she did.

The squirrel then began to move after gaining Powell’s entire attention, taking Powell to a position off the route where someone else was waiting.

“She was carrying a newborn squirrel,” Powell added. “The newborn squirrel’s limb was injured.”

Powell, unsure of what else to do, picked up the infant and carried her to a safer area in the brush.

“When I first started helping, the mother appeared pleased,” Powell recalled. “So, once I felt I’d completed my task, I went about my business.”

Powell turned back, though, and saw the mother and infant following her.

Powell came to a halt once more, realizing the squirrels required more assistance than she could provide. Then she saw there was another person in the vicinity: a black cat was patrolling the area, posing a clear threat to the helpless infant on the ground.

Powell explained, “I chased the cat away.”

Powell believes the baby squirrel’s injury was simply a strain, but it slowed him down to the point where he was in danger since he was out in the open. Powell decided to seek assistance from the police and a wildlife expert.

They came to the conclusion that the best thing to do was to relocate the squirrels to higher ground.

“We were able to relocate the infant and mother to a more tree-lined portion of the park.” “They made it all the way to the top,” Powell remarked. “They appeared to be in a good mood.”

This is a video of the incident:

Thanks to Powell, who answered the mother’s plea, the squirrels were now in a secure place where the baby’s limb could mend.
