The Little Rescue Kitten Resembles A Plush Toy Rather Than A Real Cat

Mr. Meeseeks, along with his mother and five siblings, were discovered abandoned in a box outside in the rain last fall. Broward County Animal Care in Florida took in the entire family, and the entire shelter was taken aback by Meeseeks and his siblings’ unusual-looking brood of kittens.

Finding foster homes for a mother cat and her kittens may be challenging, and no one knew what would happen to them. But not long after they arrived, Amanda Kruczynski, a shelter employee and a dedicated foster mother, heard about them and went to see them in their holding cage. She knew she couldn’t leave the kittens’ fate to chance as soon as she saw them all curled up against their mother.

Kruczynski told The Dodo, “I placed them all in a carrier and carried them home on my lunch break.” “I knew they’d need time to recover from what they’d been through, and I wanted to be able to help.” We never learned why they were abandoned or how they ended up in that box that night.”

Meeseeks was different from his siblings from the beginning. He was too little to move around much when he initially arrived in his foster home and spent much of his time curled up in a small ball. He was so little and fuzzy that he didn’t even appear genuine, and many people couldn’t believe he was real.

Nobody believed his cat images were real, according to Kruczynski. “He resembled a little felt toy, and his size just added to the surrealness. Anyone who encountered him fell in love right away, and I had a flood of adoption inquiries for his whole litter. “This is a one-in-a-million cat.”

Because he was the youngest of the litter, his foster mother kept a close check on him to ensure he was doing well and maturing at the same rate as his siblings. As she kept an eye on him, he began to keep an eye on her as well, and he quickly became her little sidekick, making sure he was never far from her.

Kruczynski noted, “Meeseeks stuck out to me for so many reasons.” “He would follow me wherever I went; if I closed a door, he’d be there when I opened it.” It was almost as though he was keeping watch over me.”

Meeseeks and his siblings appeared to be in good health until the entire litter was diagnosed with feline distemper, a potentially fatal illness that kills some kittens. Thankfully, all six kittens survived, and it was ultimately time to place the entire cat family up for adoption. When it came time to say farewell, though, there was one kitten in particular that Kruczynski couldn’t let go of: tiny Meeseeks.

“I hesitated the day we went to the shelter to say our goodbyes,” Kruczynski recalled. “I’d never hesitated in my life.” From among his fluffy brothers in his carrier, he looked up at me and signed the adoption papers himself.”

While his brothers seemed to heal regularly from feline distemper, Meeseeks never seemed quite right in the weeks that followed. He began vomiting on a daily basis and had serious respiratory issues. It was evident from away that something was wrong with him, but test after test came up empty, and his new family was at a lost for what to do. They were immediately smitten by the special little cat and realized they had to do everything they could to help him survive.

Meeseeks was ultimately identified with feline gastrointestinal eosinophilic sclerosing fibroplasia after being misdiagnosed with cancer and given a short life expectancy. While the condition is new and nothing is known about it, Meeseeks has been able to live with it thanks to the aid of his veterinarians and family, and for that everyone is thankful.

Meeseeks has always been a bit of an outlier, from his appearance to his health, but he’s also a fighter, and at little over a year old, he’s prospering in his new existence.

Kruczynski remarked, “Once he started his treatment, his personality really started to show through.” “He has a lot of energy!” He adores playing with the laser pointer and would chase it around for hours if we let him! He knows where I sleep at night and will scratch on my pillow until I allow him to go between the blankets. He has always had a strong attachment to me.”

People are still perplexed by Meeseeks’ peculiar looks, and they like gazing at photographs of his distinctive, lovely face. He’s unlike any other cat his family has ever encountered, and despite his numerous problems, they are pleased that he came into their life.

“I would never, ever regret adopting him, especially after everything we’ve been through,” Kruczynski added. “There’s no way of knowing how long he’ll be with us, but since he’s already gone through so much, there’s no reason to think he won’t keep fighting.”
