For The First Time, A Majestic White Cougar Was Sighted In Brazil’s Atlantic Forest

Although all creatures are exceptional, some are extremely uncommon and one-of-a-kind. If they are ever seen by humans, they can be a lovely sight to see. This is why people strive not to disturb animals in the environment too much and put up trap cameras in their natural habitat to observe these lovely creatures without frightening them away. If you set up your camera in the correct position at the right time, you might be able to glimpse a rare species. These are incredible animals that we had no idea existed, and we are incredibly fortunate to have captured their beauty on film.

The images of a white cougar have recently emerged on the internet. Because no one has ever seen a white cougar before, scientists and the general public are fascinated by it. The puma isn’t albino, to be sure. It’s a leucistic disease. An animal with leucism has a partial lack of pigmentation. So it’s not completely white.

Melanism, albinism, and leucism are not uncommon in the animal realm, particularly among cats. However, there were no documented examples of cougars suffering from these diseases. This was the very first instance! Scientists are baffled as to why this disease is so uncommon among cougars.

Luke Hunter, executive director of the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Big Cats Program, told National Geographic, “That tells you how very uncommon it is.” “My best assumption is that pumas’ distant progenitor was evenly colored, and the species has retained that trait ever since. But that’s merely a side effect of mutation’s unpredictability, the genetic dice roll.”
